  Just fantastic! Japan style karaoke. Great selection of songs and the gear is good quality. Plus for disco balls and bright coloured rooms.

  Disclosure: I've only been to karaoke thrice in my life. This was my first time at Syng Mer and I only saw the bar and one of the rooms. Due to the circumstances I'm not sure if the room we got was a 6 person or 8 person room. The bar: Really just an entry with a tiny bar and restrooms in addition to the private rooms. There's practically speaking no common area here, it's all about the private rooms. They have a small selection of craft beers, ciders and drinks. They let you leave a card in the bar so that you can order drinks directly from the room which they then bring to you. The room: It was cute, felt authentic in style and had what was needed. Two microphones, a touch screen for searching for and queueing songs, another touch screen for ordering drinks, a TV for the lyrics and videos, a set of dials for controlling the volumes of the microphones, music and "echo" (which as I understand it is the vocals), and of course disco lights. The room was rather small and intimate. There's room for people both sitting and standing, but not much room for dancing. There's little shelves behind the benches along the wall that you can put your drinks on, but no table. The music: We found pretty much everything we wanted during our two hour session. The database was great, the search responsive and effective and the sound controls simple. The videos were mostly just cheesy stock content with the lyrics on top and not original videos or related to the music. I don't know if this is true for all the songs. The service: Casual, friendly and efficient. This is where they stood out though. I had originally booked a room in another location, but due to illness they had to move our booking to this location. It didn't actually make a difference to me since they were very professional about it and informed me well in advance, but when I went to pay at the end they informed me that the room charge was on the house due to the inconvenience. I think this speaks to the willingness of the establishment to provide a good experience for their customers. Conclusion: This particular location is all about the private karaoke rooms. If that's what you want then it comes recommended and I think you will have a great time.
